The Gate Provides Practical Help For Positive Change
The Gate is a registered Charity which was set up in December 2011 and was founded by members of The Ludgate Church. We are located in a refurbished Church building in the heart of the Alloa community. The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees which consists entirely of volunteers from the local community offering different backgrounds and experiences.
We work in partnership with a significant number of external services to support people living within Clackmannanshire. The Gate also offers volunteering opportunities as well as acting as an information hub for the community.

We believe everyone has the right to be treated equally and to feel valued and respected.
We accept people for what they are without judgment and meet them at their point of need.
We believe in ability of all to make positive choices and a valued contribution to the community.
Recognize the value of, and support the development of, relationships and community spirit.
Commit to high quality service provision through individually responsive, professionally delivered services.
To liaise and work in partnership with other organisations to effectively utilize all available resources.
Our ethos is to be “the means to action” that results in positive change for the person and our community, overall promoting improved health, confidence, independence and change.
The origin of The Gate evolved over 10 years ago from local Churches supporting people in vulnerable situations by providing hot food for those in temporary housing or those requiring emergency food. The growth of The Gate has relied almost entirely on local people providing not only food but also their time, skills and donations to develop, sustain and deliver our services.
Our Aims & Objectives
Our overall aim is to “Provide Practical Help for Positive Change” by operating projects to help improve the conditions of life for people who are marginalized, facing social exclusion, vulnerable or homeless in Clackmannanshire.
We do this by providing a safe and welcoming environment and services that are open to all faiths and none. A place where everyone is treated equally, with dignity and recognized for their individual unique worth.
We collaborate between agencies and organisations that have a similar charitable purpose and aims to those of the Gate.
