Marie Brownhill

My background is in Social Care.  During the time training to be a social worker, I have worked in many sectors of care including statutory and voluntary settings supporting vulnerable individuals including adults and children facing difficult times.   As Service Manager with WRVS, I was responsible for overseeing the day to day delivery and operations of community services within the Clackmannanshire area.  Various role’s have involved specific tasks including the effective co-ordination, marketing, promotion and delivery of the local services, maintaining accurate records to provide statistical information and producing monitoring and evaluation reports as per funding requirements.  I have also been responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers throughout past employed experience.

From the age of 14 years old, I have been involved in various roles as a volunteer.  Roles have included the Secretary for the University’s Mature Students Association, Student Rep for the Social Work Department, Chair for Perth North Church’s Parent and Child Group, Support Worker for the Witness Service based at the local Sheriff Court, and mainly for fun, I have also volunteered as a Community Radio DJ for Ross FM based in Inverness-shire.

My past professional and personal experience has helped me relate to and understand service users and volunteer’s needs and requirements.  I am passionate, enthusiastic and committed to supporting individual’s needs to promote their emotional, physical and social well-being.
